Gareth Davies MP has strongly welcomed the launch of the Government’s Swimming Pool Support Fund as the Grantham Meres Leisure Centre and the Stamford Leisure Pool are both set to benefit from a £344,659 investment in our local pools.
Swimming is a valuable life skill for people of all ages and is extremely beneficial for both our mental and physical well being.
This direct investment in local pools is a share of the Government’s overall investment of £20 million in 196 swimming pools and leisure facilities across England, supporting over 23 million swims a year. Given our share, the Grantham & Stamford constituency has secured one of the largest shares of any constituency in the country.
Gareth said:
“I am delighted that both the Grantham Meres Leisure Centre and the Stamford Leisure Pool are set to receive this significant funding boost from the Government to help with the recent rise in energy costs, paying towards immediate maintenance costs, heating, and pool chemicals.
Both leisure centres, alongside Bourne Leisure Centre, are key community assets for people in our towns and the surrounding villages, and I will continue to do all I can to improve and protect these services for local people.”
