This week, the National Grid announced proposals to construct a powerline from Weston Marsh near Spalding to East Leicestershire.
The National Grid have now opened their Stage 1 non-statutory public consultation on their proposals which will close on Wednesday 6th August. A follow-up statutory public consultation is planned for next year.
Currently, I understand that the powerline in their proposals passes through the area between Hanthrope, Morton, and Dunsby, planned to go either north or south of Haconby, before continuing outside of the constituency towards Corby Glen. I know that many within these villages will have important questions on these proposals which I expect the National Grid to address. I will be meeting with the National Grid to further discuss their proposals.
I am grateful to the residents who have already written to me to share their views. I strongly encourage everyone in our area to engage with the public consultation before the deadline and make sure local views, queries, and concerns are heard directly by the National Grid: https://www.nationalgrid.com/the-great-grid-upgrade/weston-marsh-to-east-leicestershire
